This has been a question I’ve been asked a MILLION times over the years! My answer has changed (as far as the scents are concerned) but not the method of how I actually do it. The short answer is LAYERS- candles, incense, and sprays. There are also new technologies that have sprouted up over the last few years, emphasizing the importance of a well scented home.
Candles are my go-to, and these are the scents and brands I’m using in my home, my clients homes, as gifts, and in my stores in Dallas & Miami. It’s truly the simplest form of the all-hailed SELF CARE— I mean, how easy is it to light a candle and improve your current state of being. This 3-Wick Oudh Noir Scented Candle is soft, sexy & perfect on the bathroom counter.
I adore the look of a glittering, lit candle just as much as I adore the scent. These by Los Angeles based Yoke are simply perfect, inside and out. The brass container looks chic in any environment. The name yoke is taken from the true definition of yoga. Yoke means yoga. Yoga means union. Through the connection of the inner and outer journey, they create goods that hold the space for one to realize their true unlimited potential. I love these two- Bungalow & Abundance.

CELEBRATION DAY LOVE THAT BURNS
Incense is one of my favorite layers and one that I’ve been using since I was old enough to light a match. Remember the overly fragrant incense sticks you’d find at the gas station... well, these are NOT that. These are Hand-dipped and California sun-dried. Soft frankincense and myrrh blend used for centuries to inspire spiritual energies within. Burn before or after meditation, or in any sacred space to calm, relax, and center.
There can be something ritualistic about scent and scenting your space because there’s usually a mood that comes along with it. In my house and stores, there is a daily ritual of lighting and cleansing the space with Palo Santo. Palo Santo is known as Holy Wood. Bursera graveolens, a wild tree found in areas from Mexico to Peru & belonging to the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh. This tree produces incredibly aromatic and hypoallergenic resin that only grows stronger in concentration with age. Ignite your stick of Palo Santo. Hold at about a 45 degree angle pointing the tip down toward the flame. Allow it to burn for about 30 secs to 1 minute and then blow out sending your intentions with the smoke.
I use vessels like these to burn my Palo Santo stick and to display it in my space. These are vintage and one-of-a-kind, and perfect for this use.
