This has been a question I’ve been asked a MILLION times over the years! My answer has changed (as far as the scents are concerned) but not the method of how I actually do it. The short answer is LAYERS- candles, incense, and sprays. There are also new technologies that have sprouted up over the last few years, emphasizing the importance of a well scented home. Candles are my go-to, and these are the scents and brands I’m using in my home, my clients homes, as gifts, and in my stores in Dallas & Miami. It’s truly the simplest form of the all-hailed SELF CARE— I mean, how easy is it to light a candle and improve your current state of being. This 3-Wick Oudh Noir Scented Candle is soft, sexy & perfect on the bathroom counter. I adore the look of a glittering, lit candle just as much as I adore the scent. These by Los Angeles based Yoke are simply perfect, inside and out. The brass container looks chic in any environment. The name yoke is taken from the true definition of yoga. Yoke means yoga. Yoga means union. Through the connection of the inner and outer journey, they create goods that hold the space for one to realize their true unlimited potential. I love these two- Bungalow & Abundance. BUNGALOW ABUNDANCE Tatine has mesmerizing fragrance blends that tell a story every time you light one of their candles. I use these (and gift them) often! Their votive sizes are only $20 and they are wrapped in thick white paper with thoughtful and accurate scent titles. My favorites are these... LAUREL CANYON KENSINGTON GARDENS CELEBRATION DAY LOVE THAT BURNS Incense is one of my favorite layers and one that I’ve been using since I was old enough to light a match. Remember the overly fragrant incense sticks you’d find at the gas station... well, these are NOT that. These are Hand-dipped and California sun-dried. Soft frankincense and myrrh blend used for centuries to inspire spiritual energies within. Burn before or after meditation, or in any sacred space to calm, relax, and center. RITUAL INCENSE SACRED INCENSE There can be something ritualistic about scent and scenting your space because there’s usually a mood that comes along with it. In my house and stores, there is a daily ritual of lighting and cleansing the space with Palo Santo. Palo Santo is known as Holy Wood. Bursera graveolens, a wild tree found in areas from Mexico to Peru & belonging to the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh. This tree produces incredibly aromatic and hypoallergenic resin that only grows stronger in concentration with age. Ignite your stick of Palo Santo. Hold at about a 45 degree angle pointing the tip down toward the flame. Allow it to burn for about 30 secs to 1 minute and then blow out sending your intentions with the smoke. PALO SANTO SMUDGE BUNDLE I use vessels like these to burn my Palo Santo stick and to display it in my space. These are vintage and one-of-a-kind, and perfect for this use. VINTAGE BRASS ASHTRAY VINTAGE BRASS DISH These cleansing energy wands are handcrafted using pure and sacred ingredients. Traditionally used for centuries to purify, cleanse and revamp your energy. Each Floral Sage Smudge + Palo Santo bundle is wrapped with organic help spring, sustainable white sage and locally sourced rose petals for positivity and self love. Sustainable California white sage, palo santo, rose petals, hemp cord. FLORAL SAGE SMUDGE + PALO SANTO
Learn moreI’ve been off and on dry brushing my body for years now, and am just now realizing how amazing it really is. Being consistent with it is the key! Dry body brushing daily is a natural way to reduce cellulite, increase circulation, improve metabolism, eliminate dead skin cells and help the body's natural detoxification process. How to use: Dry brush your skin every morning before showering or bathing. Starting at the soles of your feet, work with long, sweeping movements towards the heart, focusing on areas prone to cellulite. The brush should never be too rough or leave damage to the skin. It should be invigorating, not painful! I use this all natural Bamboo DRYBRUSH for sale HERE that I think you’re going to love. It’s firm enough to get the blood flowing, but soft enough to not scratch or irritate your skin. The best results I’ve had are on my inner thighs and stomach where cellulite likes to hide. Make sure you moisturize when you get out of the bath/shower. I’ve been using this classic (and incredible) body oil by RODIN and I absolutely LOVE the scent and the effects. This one by THE ORGANIC PHARMACY is also fantastic and it’s a bit less expensive (also smells incredible). Illustrations credit of GOOP.com and Louise Canneli
Learn moreWe’ve been selling these beautiful handmade hammocks for years, and no one seems to have any idea how to hang them (sometimes not even the handyman you may hire to do the hard part). Here’s the quick and easy way we’ve found works just fine! You may opt to use chain— we like the more industrial look—but have also used coated wire, which has a little ‘neater’ of a look and then you aren’t worried about little fingers getting hold of the chain links. It’s also quieter if that matters to you. Here’s our quick list: From the ceiling down (for concrete ceilings) 1000 Lb Hammock Hanging Kit -This kit goes directly into the concrete ceiling CLICK HERE TO ORDER Spring Link (5/16in x 3-1/4in | 280lb)— I have tons of these in my toolbox and they always seem to come in handy during these types of projects or anything that requires chains. This link will slide onto the swing hardware and then attach to the Eye and Eye Swivel piece. See next item. Eye and Eye Swivel (1/4in | 850lb)— This piece is necessary so that the swing is able to turn 360 degrees and allow the chain the spin freely. CLICK HERE TO ORDER Spring Link (5/16in x 3-1/4in | 280lb)— This will connect the Eye and Eye Swivel piece to the chain. Galvanized Chain- Measure the height you want the swing to hang at, and then measure the length of chain to the ceiling. In my case, with a 10ft ceiling, I only needed 36” of chain. The chain I have in this picture was smaller than the large Spring Link that will attach the chain to the hammock, so i needed to add an extra smaller Spring Link to hook them together. If you get a big enough chain to fit through the Extra Large Spring Link you won’t need to add the extra one. Extra Large Spring Link— You need this large size to connect to the hammock connector.. This is what it will all look like when it’s connected (above image). This is the hammock connected to the extra large Spring Link The view from the chain aisle at Home Depot can be intimidating if you don't know exactly what you are looking for! You can typically find all the items I have listed above in the same aisle at Home Depot.
